PINOY PRIDE 14: NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS @ Resort?s World Manila on June 2

PhilBoxing.com

For the first time since it debuted, Pinoy Pride, the country?s highest rating boxing show of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports will be at the ritzy Resort?s World Manila.

Pinoy Pride 14: Night of Champions will feature a world champion, former world champions and highly world ranked boxers that is sure to entertain the boxing fans of the Philippines main city.

Leading the Pinoy Pride charge is two-division world champion and current WBO Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes going up against WBO and IBF world #7 Felipe Salguero of Mexico.

This promises to be a bout of aggression as both fighters are protecting long unbeaten streaks with Nietes riding on an 18 fight win streak with 8 of them being world title fights while the Mexican Salguero has not lost since his first 2 fights as a professional. He is on a 16-fight win tear and looks to become world champion come June 2.

Joining the fighting Light Flyweights is the interesting pair of Flyweights in WBO World no. 1 Flyweight Milan ?Metodico? Melindo vs former world champion Jesus Gelez of Colombia.

Melindo who sports a record of 26 wins with 10 KO?s without a defeat will be trading skills and taunts with the equally willy and experienced Gelez who always backs up his flashy style and loud personality with a solid game. Melindo will be fighting for the WBO International Flyweight title plus a chance for a possible world title crack up next.

The last of the triple-header will be a classic case of the young vs the experienced. Fighting for the WBC Regional title will be the controversial Genaro ?Poblanito? Garcia who has the experience of fighting for 8 world title fights and has beaten the great Rafael Marquez who will be facing promising Filipino prospect Genesis ?Azukal? Servania.

?The Real? Genaro Garcia will finally be seen in person here in the Philippines after a controversial incident last March where a namesake was sent by an agent to fight in a Pinoy Pride card. This time Garcia is penned to fight the young Servania who will be pushed to his limits as Garcia is one of the sports more known pressure fighters. A Servania win will mean bigger fights for the lad and a lot more for Filipino boxing fans to look forward to.

ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports? Pinoy Pride is on a fast and steady rise in the Television ratings consistently putting up solid double figure ratings together with and sometimes ahead of the more popular and regular Sunday variety shows. The most recent Pinoy Pride 13 had a high 15 % National Household Rating as published by Kantar.

Pinoy Pride has also attracted top names in business as the upscale Resort?s World Manila has partnered with ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN in presenting the 14th edition of Pinoy Pride hosting the event this June 2, 2012.

A scheduled press launch will be held on May 8, 2012 at the Resort?s World Manila where the Pinoy Pride 14 Night of Champions fighters will be introduced for the first time in public in Manila. Announcements will likewise be made during the said event launch.
