WBO ANNOUNCES REFEREES AND JUDGES FOR THIS WEEK'S WORLD TITLE BOUTS IN RUSSIA AND GERMANY

World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel announced today the referees and judges who will work on the world title bouts to be held this week in Russia and Germany.
Valcarcel reported that for the May 1st, WBO Middleweight title fight at the Sports Complex, Krylatskoe, Moskow, Russia, between the champion Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15 KOs), in his third defense, and Nobuhiro Ishida (24-7-2, 9 KOs) of Japan, the referee will be Manuel Maritxalar from Spain while the judges are Fernando Laguna Yanes from Spain, John Madfis from the United States and Noel Monnet from France. WBO supervisor for this bout will be Igor Mazurov.
While, this Saturday, May 5, at Messehalle, Erfurt, Thuringen, Germany, the Cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-2, 25 KOs) will defend his title for the ninth time against the interim champion Ola Afolabi (19-2-3, 9 KOs). In this fight the referee will be Robert Byrd, from the United States. The judges are Ingo Barrabas from Germany, Paul Thomas from the United Kingdom and Nelson Vazquez from Puerto Rico. WBO supervisor will be Istvan Kovacs.
At the same place, Supermiddleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23 KOs) is going to make his sixth 168lb title defense against Nader Hamdan (43-9-1, 18 KOs). The referee for this fight is Dave Parris from United Kingdom and the judges will be Manuel Oliver Palomo, Ingo Barrabas and Nelson Vazquez. WBO supervisor will be Istvan Kovacs.
