MEXICAN SUPERSTAR JAIME CAMIL TO SING MEXICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM AT "RING KINGS: MAYWEATHER VS. COTTO" CINCO DE MAYO MEGA-FIGHT PhilBoxing.com Sat, 28 Apr 2012 LOS ANGELES (April 27)...Renowned Mexican actor and singer Jaime Camil is set to sing the Himno Nacional Mexicano at "Ring Kings: Mayweather vs. Cotto" on May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas which will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View?. Camil will have the honor of singing the anthem at the mega-event which coincides with the Cinco de Mayo holiday, traditionally one of the biggest boxing weekends of the year. "We are thrilled to have a Mexican superstar like Jaime Camil singing the Mexican national anthem on May 5," said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. "It only adds to the level of superstardom of this mega-event and it gives the Mexican and Mexican-American fans yet one more reason to watch." Camil is a prominent screen and stage actor, recording artist and television personality who began his career as a radio DJ. Camil has four platinum-selling albums and his latest album, "Por Ella Soy Eva" is currently in the top 10 albums of the iTunes Mexico music store. He starred in the bound-for-Broadway original musical "The Mambo Kings" at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco, Calif as well as in the most successful Mexican films of all time such as "7DAYS," "Zapata," "Recien Cazado," "Saving Private Perez," "Heaven In Your Eyes" and "Regresa" for which he won the "Best Film Actor" award at the PREMIOS JUVENTUD ceremony, beating out Javier Bardem, Gael Garcia Bernal and Antonio Banderas. "Regresa" also won "Best Entertaining Film" at the Monaco Film Festival. He has received numerous and prestigious awards including the ACE Award for "Man of the Year" in 2007. Also featured will be Canelo Alvarez vs. Sugar Shane Mosley, a 12-round fight for Canelo's WBC Super Welterweight World Championship which is presented in association with Canelo Promotions and Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions and a 10-round welterweight fight featuring undefeated rising star Jessie Vargas and former World Champion Steve Forbes. Opening the pay-per-view broadcast will be a 10-round bout between super welterweight contender DeAndre Latimore and former World Champion Carlos Quintana which is presented in association with DiBella Entertainment.
