Suico gets new mouthpiece for Diaz showdown! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 07 Jul 2006 Heavy-fisted Filipino star Randy 'Komong Bato' Suico is indeed pulling no stops in his war preparation for WBA lightweight king Juan Diaz, even getting for himself a new custom-made mouthguard from renowned ortho-dentist Ed De la Vega in Los Angeles. Suico was in De la Vega's clinic a few hours ago, accompanied by his manager Joe Koizumi of Japan and trainer Juanito Ablaca. De la Vega (tel. 818-348-8713), a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is better known for making the mouthpieces of superstar Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao, Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista, Z Gorres, and Czar Amonsot. "I've never had one that fit so nicely and comfortably," Suico was quoted as saying after trying on his new set of mouthpiece, which bears the color of the Philippine flag. Suico will attempt to knock the WBA title off Juan Diaz's head on July 15 underneath the Shane Mosley-Fernando Vargas rematch at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Superstar Manny Pacquiao will be at ringside to cheer for Suico, a member of the original Golden Boys of Cebu boxing who turned pro under the guidance of Cebu sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer.
