"THE MANNY PACQUIAO STORY" ON THE MAIN EVENT

The second episode of the enthralling story of Filipino ring idol and national treasure Manny Pacquiao will be telecast on Viva Sports top-rated weekly boxing show "The Main Event" at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday over RPN 9.
Sponsored by PLDT, Smart, PCSO, Alaxan and San Miguel Beer, the eight, one hour specials began last week with a glimpse of Pacquiao?s boyhood poverty, his desire to become a boxer while his mother Dionisia prayed for him to become a priest, and his first fights as a 16 year old in Manila.
This week, the saga continues as the brash youngster continues his quest to carve a name for himself with his blazing fists.
Fight fans will be able to go back in time to watch highlights of Pacquiao?s early ring battles with Lito Laroa on October 7, 1995, his sensational showdown with tough Renato Mendones in Puerto Princessa, Palawan just two weeks later and his clash with veteran Rolando Toyogon.
Pacquiao fans in particular will be thrilled to hear extremely popular sportscaster, the late Romy Kintanar who covered some of Pacquiao?s fights. Kintanar, to his credit, saw the exciting potential in Pacquiao and was, for the record, the first to predict a great future for Pacquiao.
