Lucky Paderna

At the "1st GAB Philippine Boxing Convention " which is already fast approaching this April 18-21st, 2006 at the five-star Hotel Hyatt and Casino Manila, a native of North Cotabato will be put in the limelight.

The tough and calibered professional boxer Jun Paderna, under the Rex Wakee Salud stable, by stroke of fate will get the opportunity to become a legit ring sensation.

The Games and Amusements Board, the agency that spearheads President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's special sports convention program, has already approved unanimously the cards presented by the boxing division headed by Mr. Emmanuel Flores , and that is to showcase Paderna during the boxing confab. This will become his title defense as the Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) superfeather weight champion. The PABA leadership under Yang Sup Shim of Korea and Alan Kim , our good friend who is its Secretary General had given the sanctioning nod to this fight which will be held at the beautiful park of Rajah Sulaiman of Manila City. Many thanks to Alan Kim of PABA for his valuable support to the GAB and the Philippines.

Mayor Lito Atienza and the team of Ali Atienza and Dondon Bagatsing are also in full support to this project. Upon thorough evaluation on the preparations of the agency, Chairman Eric R.Buhain noted "we are almost there for such a glorious and historic event in the history of Philippine boxing".

Stroke of fortune for Jun Paderna? Yes. Not all aspiring top pro boxers are given the same opportunity to be featured in a promotional fight as big as this. This is more than a perfect timing on the part of Paderna. With or without his knowing it, nor beyond his imaginative calculations, this "heavy puncher" of Don Wakee Salud will defend his PABA crown, before the very eyes of top international professional boxing representatives who will be attending the boxing convention in the country. Imagine that!

Definitely , we are expecting dozens of them coming from the top heirarchy of the pro boxing councils, federations and organizations in the world including their regional executives to witness the main event to be fought by Paderna. And on top of this, we do expect a positive result,I mean victory on the part of Jun Paderna in his top duel against a foreign foe.

No doubt, we have many young fighters amidst us and they are only waiting for the proper time to be fielded and properly promoted. They have the guts, the heart and most of all the embedded determinations in them worthy to become future world class pro boxers and eventually our next champions. Thus, this convention will tackle in part some of the many aspects of professional boxing , its development and the career advancement and protection among our Filipino fighters. That is why we need the full support of everybody from the boxing community in the country. This is our affair. Let us do our share for the betterment and success of the young fighters.
