Gorres, Amonsot will have new opponents on February 3 PhilBoxing.com Wed, 18 Jan 2006 World rated and OPBF # 1 super Flyweight Z “The Dream” Gorres and WBO Asian Pacific Junior Lightweight Champion Czar Amonsot, each have new opponents when they see action on a nationally televised fight card on February 3, 2006 at the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Initially, Guilty Promotions designated Mexican Samuel Lopez to face Gorres and Amonsot was scheduled to square off against Mexican Arturo Quintero. However, due to scheduling and other conflicts Lopez and Quintero became unavailable. Gorres who is scheduled to fight in Cebu for the OPBF Title in March will now face Jose Alfredo Tirado, and Amonsot will now square off against Antonio Wong. In an e-mail, business Manager Michael Koncz stated that, "it is unfortunate but circumstances like this happen frequently in this business. Nevertheless, over the past few days Jimmy Montoya, (director of boxing operations and chief match maker for Guilty Boxing), and I had a number of discussions prior to agreeing on Tirado and Wong." Koncz went on to state that he is personally familiar with the new opponents for the ALA boys. Antonio Wong is a boxer who comes to fight and has a very aggressive style of fighting. This will be a very good test for Czar in his American debut. Koncz further stated that Z will even have a greater challenge on February 3rd against opponent Jose Alfredo Tirado. In his last fight on September 23, 2005 Tirado fought against one of Koncz fighters Diosdado Gabi. The fight was stopped by the ringside doctor after 5 exciting action packed rounds due to an accidental head butt which caused a severe cut just above Gabi’s left eyebrow. The fight record generated and maintained by fight fax which, is the official boxing record utilize by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in approving matches states Mr. Antonio Wong’s professional record is 11 wins (7Kos) 5 losses and 1 draw and Mr. Jose Alfredo Tirado’s fight fax record is 22 wins (13Kos) and 9 losses. ![]() |
