Melindo to prove he is ready for the big time
PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Aug 2010

WBC Youth Intercontinental Flyweight Champion Milan Melindo of the Philippines will once again showcase his cerebral style of boxing on August 28, 2010 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Melindo will be one of the four main features of the event billed PHILIPPINES VS THE WORLD pitting him against the hard charging Korean Flyweight Champion Jin-Man Jeon.
The stylish Melindo is one of the few fighters in the country who has held three titles in three different weight divisions. His first title came by way of 4th round TKO against Pongpan Patanakan Gym of Thailand on October 6, 2007 in his hometown of Cagayan de Oro.
He then won the WBA Inter-Continental Light Flyweight title against veteran Carlos Melo of Panama via Unanimous Decision on July 26, 2008 for his second title.
Considered to be one of the most meticulous and methodical fighters in the Philippines today, Milan Melindo then won the WBC Youth Intercontinental Championship for his 3rd title against crafty American Anthony Villareal early this year making it 3 titles in 3 divisions.
Melindo defended his title against Thailand?s Komrit Twins Gym last April in Dubai flooring the Thai twice in the opening round then finishing him off in the fourth round impressing and delighting all in attendance with his ring savvy.
In a recent interview with 8Count News he said ?All the time I?m ready for a world title fight. I?m waiting for the opportunity but I?m not worried about when the chance comes. If the time comes, I will be ready.?
He was scheduled to fight Ex-World Champ Brian Viloria tormentor Carlos Tamara but negotiations failed for Tamara and his team opted to fight veteran Luis Alberto Lazarate last May 29th with Tamara losing the fight and his title as well.
?I?m a warrior and I fear nothing except the One who created us all? says Melindo. This little man who trains at the famed ALA Gym and fights under ALA Promotions knows his time has come and is out to prove he is now ready for the big time. - PR
