PhilBoxing.com

Fil-American three-time world boxing champion Ana Julaton flew in yesterday morning and called on President Benigno ?Nonoy? Aquino in the afternoon of the same day.

Without knowing it, Julaton, ?otherwise known as ?Hurricane? in the international boxing circle who beat Mexican Maria Elena Villalobos to capture the World Boxing Organization super-bantamweight crown last June 30, had actually gifted the newly-elected Chief Executive a present.

June 30 happened to be the day P-Noy was sworn in as the new President of the country.

Yesterday, Julaton, whose parents came from Puzzorubio in Pangasinan, officially presented to the President the WBO super-bantamweight belt she won via a split decision victory over her Mexican rival in a fight held at the Casino Rama In Ontario, Canada.

?It?s an honor to meet him (P-Noy) and I?m excited to do that,? Julaton, who is still single like P-Noy and also the International Boxing Association 122-pound titleholder said during a press conference held at the GMA Network Center.
?
?More than winning a world championship, I really am very proud that in beating Villalobos, I once again, proved to the whole world what a Filipino can do,? he said during the press conference where he was accompanied by her manager, Angelo Reyes.
?
?I?m a Filipino and I?m proud to be once,? Julaton, dubbed as the female version of seven-division champion Manny Pacquiao, added during her meeting with local media.
?
The pretty and statuesque Lydia de Vega-look alike fighter, who turned 30 last June 5,will drive to her parents? hometown in Puzzorubio tomorrow before enplaning back to San Francisco in California on Friday.

GMA executive, Atty. Felipe Gozon, presented her a big chocolate birthday cake. She promised though to be back as soon as possible and fight before her countrymen possibly in September.

?I want to fight here so my countrymen can see me. And I want to fight anybody, maybe Villobos again, or somebody else, even Laila Ali, if she?s available,? she said referring to Muhammad Ali?s daughter-fighter.

Julaton, who lost to Liza Brown a few months ago for the other alphabet version of the 122-pound title, she would love to fight the American in a return match if her countrymen will prefer Brown to be her next opponent.
?
Pinoy boxing aficionados will get the chance to see the exiting against Villalobos when GMA Network airs??Laban Ng Pinay? on July 18 at 11 a.m. via the giant network?s GMA-7.
?
Julaton, who was trained by ?Trainer of the Year? Freddie Roach for her fight against Villalobos, raised his record to 7-2-2 win-loss-draw, making her the fastest female boxer to win three world crowns. ?
