SABILLO AND VILLANUEVA IN BACK TO BACK TKO WINS; READY FOR PHILIPPINE BELTS By Chito Yu Katangkatang PhilBoxing.com Sun, 30 May 2010 Bacolod City- Junjun ?Tiger? Sabillo made a statement that he is ready for the Philippine Championship challenge by easily disposing Jonathan Recablanca of Surigao City. Sabillo battered his opponent from round one until Recablanca retired from his seat before the start of round five. A solid right hook in the third round opened a cut on Recablanca?s face which bloodied the warrior from Surigao. Ringside Physician Dr. Francis Balsomo allowed Recablanca to continue but the bleeding was aggravated by more power punches from the Tiger in the fourth round thereby making his corner decide to quit and avoid further damage to their fighter. With the win, Sabillo?s record improved to W12 KO6 L0 D0. In the co-main event, Arthur ?El Matador? Villanueva stylishly dominated Nikong Calamba of Butuan City. The fight appeared to be close in the first round as Calamba inflicted a good right straight to the head which caused a cut on Villanueva?s right eyebrow. However, Villanueva?s speed, accuracy and power became his tool in breaking down the defense of Calamba. A right hook unleashed by El Matador tore the right eyebrow of Calamba which bloodied his face. In the fourth round, Calamba?s cut got worse due to the severe beating by Villanueva thus prompting ring physician Dr. Balsomo to stop the fight at 2:26 of the fifth round. With the victory, Villanueva?s record improved to W12 KO9 L0 D0. With the back to back wins of the two Prides of Negros, the top duo of Bacolod?s Guanzon stable will be featured in a Double Philippine Championship bout on July 31, 2010 at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose and Activity Center. Sabillo will face Jetli Purisima of General Santos City for the Philippine Minimumweight Title while Villanueva will square it off with Brix ?Bomb? Ray of Davao City for the Philippine Flyweight Belt. In the undercards of Boxing Blow by Blow, undefeated junior featherweight Jan-jan ?Hitman? Guanzon of Bacolod outclassed Ranel Suko of Agusan del Norte. Guanzon scored a knock down in the first round and punched his way to a unanimous decision win after six rounds. Guanzon now holds a record of W11 KO2 L0 D0. In the featherweight bout, Ryan Sermona of Guanzon Stable knocked out Rolando Omila of Butuan City in the fifth round of the fight. A solid left to the midsection dropped Omila for good. In the super featherweight card, Kevin de la Cruz of Guanzon stable outpointed Jojo Arnado of Bukidnon en route to a unanimous win after six rounds. De la Cruz scored a knock down in the third round thus solidifying his unanimous victory. In the 112 lbs bout, Mike Espa?osa of Bacolod defeated Ruben Magno of Iloilo?s Tinagan Stable. Espa?osa scored a third round knock down and clearly dominated most of the rounds. Guanzon stable?s fresh prospect Jerry Nardo remained undefeated after beating John Rey Solis of Iloilo in a close four rounder match. Solis won the first round but Nardo stood superior in the rest of the rounds. All judges scored the bout 39-37 in favor of Nardo. The event started with amateur bouts sponsored by former WBC Super Flyweight and Former WBO Bantamweight Champion Gerry Pe?alosa.
