PHILBOXING EXCLUSIVE: SUICO SHOULD HAVE WON FIGHT!!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 27 Sep 2005
Philboxing.com took pains in being one of the first few to get a copy of the recent fight between the Philippine's Randy "Komong Bato" Suico and Mexican Javier Jauregui.
Courtesy of Pacland, Philboxing.com was able take a look at the 10-round Solo Boxeo fight, which was beamed on Telefutura.
The verdict: Suico should have won the fight by a point or two.
Jauregui, known as a banger, came to the fight with his track and field shoes on, opting not to engage Suico in a fight. While he piled up points in the earlier rounds, he flubbed at getting respect when he opted to run away from Suico for most of the second half of the fight.
Judges Ray Corona and Jack Reiss, who both scored 99-91 for Jauregui, should be investigated and asked to attend a refresher course in judging boxing fights.
They are better off attending one of the WBC-sanctioned official seminars in the organization's upcoming convention, as these two officials had blatantly ignored the young Suico's attempt to make a fight out of a snoozer which Jauregui had made out of the fight.
"He wasnt the same fighter i saw of him in the tape. He did not come to fight, but to survive," Suico said.
Philboxing.com would like to challenge the WBC not to demote Suico in the rankings, as this young man has clearly manifested what real boxing is all about--sweat, guts, heart and talent.
Like Manny Pacquiao before him, Suico has made the Filipinos proud once again in the international stage, even in defeat.
"The fight was clearly made to derail Suico's ambition at getting a crack at Barrera. That was clearly the intention," a seasoned boxing observer said.
