CHAMBERS PREDICTS GREAT UPSET
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 20 Mar 2010

“Fast” Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KOs), of Philadelphia predicts a “great upset” when he faces the much bigger and heavier WBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KOs) of Ukraine at the 51,000 seat Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The American Chambers who is rated No.1 by the WBO and Ni.3 by the IBF earned a crack at the title following impressive wins over former WBC heavyweight champion Sam Peter and unbeaten contender Alexander Dimitrenko.
Chambers is an overwhelming underdog but said he welcomes the opportunity and has done what he needs to do to become a champion. Chambers told boxing writer Rich Schamberg“ This is a great, great opportunity, and I am motivated to work harder and with more intensity than ever.”
Although Wladimir’s older brother Vitali holds the WBC title and Britain’s David Haye is the WBA champion , Wladimir has long been considered the dominant heavyweight champion. With his size advantage – Wlad is nearly 6’7” tall – and six-year unbeaten streak, many opponents enter the ring just hoping to survive.
At the official weigh-in Klitschko tipped the scales at 244 pounds while Chambers, the mandatory challenger came in at 209 pounds.
Chambers has been quoted as saying” I am ready for this fight. I’m not going to allow what happened to his other challengers happen to me.”
