SONSONA, Manila's "Golden Boy"
By Granville Ampong PhilBoxing.com Sat, 20 Mar 2010

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, March 18 - I had a winsome chance again at the Los Angeles International Airport to meet the real and good working members, so to speak, of Team Pacquiao.
Along with them was Eden Sonsona, a RISING DYNAMIC boxer at 21, who recently won by knockout in the eighth round over the tough "El Pintoso-Indio Boy" from Columbia, Mauricio Pastrana (35-12-2), in their bantamweight fight last March 13, as one of the undercard bouts of the Pacquiao vs. Clottey, dubbed "The Event", at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Fondly called the "Manila's Golden Boy", Sonsona, a southpaw bearing 5'5", hails from Bula, General Santos City, Philippines. Ranked as No. 5 in the Philippines based on the official boxing record, he is trained by Danny Halibas, one of the most formidable boxing trainers the Land of Promise, Mindanao, has ever produced to the international scene since the rise of the world of Pacmania.
Meanwhile, Halibas stays in Los Angeles to assist and to train more fighters which are expected to come in a few weeks from the Philippines.
On the other hand, Sonsona boarded the same flight with Dennis Laurente, another promising welterweight boxer, and also with Nonoy Neri, Gio Delvo, Police Inspector Coronel Alden Delvo, Christian Arradaza and Mandirigma' - all of Team Pacquiao.
