Bernabe Concepcion Looking Forward! By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Feb 2010 Boe-787 – Bernabe Concepcion is on the final stage of his 2 months training for the Pinoy Power 3. His coach for this fight is Buboy Fernandez. The 22 yr old Bernabe is developing new techniques from the new coach. They added aggressiveness, quickness and better footwork. "We have to add these dimensions since the opponents [in featherweight class, 126 lbs] are getting taller and they’re boxing more," Bernabe told Philboxing. Bernabe’s power is not a question, with Buboy keeping an eye on him and Roach’s tidbits, he will be nowhere to go but to improve. If he will really develop those “effective” aggressiveness with a slight Manny Pacquiao quickness, then I would say Bernabe’s name will be mentioned alongside Juan Manuel Lopez, Chris John and glass chin new champ Yuriorkis Gamboa in the crowded featherweights. So come Feb. 13, Bernabe will meet Mario Santiago the prince of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He has an impressive record of 21 wins – 14kos and 1 defeat. His lone defeat comes from Hector Velasquez who just recently surrendered in rd. 7 to the A+ ironfisted Edwin Valero the lightweight champion. Also, the same Valasquez who says enough after 6 rounds to the A++ Manny Pacquiao. By the way, both Concepcion and Santiago fought the former WBO Featherweight Champ Staven Luevano. They both lost, Santiago lost by points and Concepcion by a disqualification in rd. 7. Take your pick! Duljoman picks Concepcion in an early knockout. Why? Because Santiago mixes with Bernabe, then Bernabe’s body attacks will kill him… another thing Buboy is in the corner. Those famous Buboy instructions everytime Manny fights will do magic! “Relaks…Hata-hata pre! E-bundak dayun yung mga kinumo mo sa mukha ng apapangig ng kalaban.” Oh!BeerTime!!! So Aljoe Jaro is still the manager of Bernabe, but bonding will expire next year… Bernabe said that he doesn’t have an idea if Jaro will watch the fight… Shannon Brown the former Michigan State will be my pick to win this years NBA slam-dunk… check him out, that guy must’ve wings somewhere, I’m talking an eye popping dunks right here… I watched him in Michigan State against UofM in Crisler arena few years ago, the guy is flying… so my theory is, that’s why LeBron said no on the dunk contest… ALA boxers, why they don’t have enough gas on the tank? Over-trained or under-trained?... they should check their program right now or create check-list to see where they lack on their preparations… its hard to see ALA boys beginning to breath hard after 9… The rookie Tyreke Evans of Sacramento Kings should be the first rookie all-star… Al Horford? Josh Smith just made a triple-double for the Atlanta Hawks, Horford shouldn’t be there… New Orleans Saints over the Michael Jordan of football “Peyton Manning”… Hello to Engr. Leodegario Geraldez Junior of Lear PETC and to Ex-con, Ex Lapu-lapu MVP Coincilman, the Honorable Ruel Go of New Jersey, I heard that Elpidio Yoyoy Villamin can’t guard you in the halfcourt-area, what are you doing the half-court ex-con?… Happy Birthday to my Son Anton Gabriel Aba-Andales, he is 12 years old now and doing good in Immaculate Heart of Mary Elem. School in Little Rock… Yohoo!!! Kumbatea!!! Click here to view a list of other articles written by Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales. |
