ARIZA BLASTS SCHAEFER TELLS MAYWEATHER, STOP THE POSTURING GET INTO THE RING

PhilBoxing.com

Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao’s conditioning expert Alex Ariza has blasted Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer for spreading falsehoods and striving to undermine the remarkable achievements of Pacquiao even as he challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr to stop the posturing and get into the ring against Pacquiao.

Well-known boxing writer Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.com himself accused both Schaefer and Golden Boy Promotions owner Oscar De La Hoya of speaking from both corners of their mouths and making contradictory statements and accused De La Hoya of using Ring Magazine which he owns, to assail Pacquiao and question his achievements.

Iole wrote, “ Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, whose company is representing Mayweather, has consistently spoken out of both sides of his mouth. He’s sounded righteously indignant when discussing Pacquiao’s refusal to agree to the testing, but he flat refused to consider additional testing in 2008 when Zab Judah demanded it prior to his planned fight with (Shane) Mosley.” Mosley had admitted taking steroids prior to his fight with Oscar De La Hoya but claimed it was inadvertent.

Iole also said “ And then there’s De La Hoya, who talks out of both sides of his mouth so often it’s not even funny. De La Hoya, who is the president of Golden Boy Promotions, continues to use his blog on the GBP-owned Ring magazine website as a personal propaganda tool. He publicly contradicted himself in his Dec. 23 blog in which he questioned Pacquiao’s reluctance to do blood tests.”

Schaefer who told us in the Golden Boy board room prior to the Floyd Mayweather Jr – Juan Manuel Marquez fight last October that he was sure Manny was on some performance enhancing drugs subsequently denied he made the statement when interviewed by Iole which was expected in the face of a lawsuit being readied against him and Golden Boy Promotions as well as the Mayweathers.

www.insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports learned that crack lawyer Dan Petrocelli who nailed OJ Simpson in a civil suit will handle the case for Pacquiao and Top Rank.

Pacquiao meantime underwent the urine test as directed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission chairwoman Pat Lundvall with World Anti Doping Agency accredited Philippine Olympic Committee doctor, Alex Pineda flying to Pacquiao's hometown of General Santos City ro administer the test.

Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz said that they were "not budging" from the announced readiness of Pacquiao to undergo a blood test 30 days before the planned March 13 Mayweather fight and immediately after the fight in his dressing room effectively rejecting Schaefer and Mayweather's demand for random test upto the day of the weigh in.

Ariza who is vacationing in Hawaii with his mother, blasted those who rbeportedly spread the word that he had unspecified links with the BALCO laboratory that was found guilty of giving athletes performance enhancing drugs or steroids.

An angry Ariza insisted “I have never been linked or done any work with BALCO. I don’t know anyone from there or been associated or my name found in any documents that have to do with BALCO. I have never been linked to BALCO. I have never had anything to do with BALCO. I am also not associated with anyone from Velocity Training Center nor have I worked with them or had any kind of contact.”

He challenged anybody “to provide proof or documents with my name on it showing that I worked f or BALCO or anything that has to do with steroids” following apparent efforts to discredit the conditioning guru who joined celebrated trainer Freddie Roach to turn Pacquiao into a fighting machine that demolished Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto en route to set a record by becoming the first boxer to win seven world titles in seven separate weight divisions.

Ariza said earlier, he didn’t have any problem with Olympic-style drug tests being conducted on Pacquiao but said “no matter where they try to look for something, at the end of the day Mayweather is going to have to get in that ring and he is just going to have to show up. All the posturing about Manny getting knocked out or being on steroids…all of that s---t, he is going to eventually have to step into that ring and he’s going to have to fight. There’s not going to be any excuses.”

Ariza said “I am the one in charge, I’m the one responsible for what Manny takes. He has no idea what he takes. He is on the same thing that Amir Khan (WBA light welterweight champion) , Vanes Martirosyan’s on and I don’t give my guys any steroids. What I give them is all natural and its my own special blend of different things.”

He said that if Mayweather dares to step into the ring against Pacquiao he would get “the beating of his life.”
