Joe Koizumi ? Make the Fight! Randy Suico Continues to Duck Saddam Kietyongyuth PhilBoxing.com Thu, 22 Jan 2009 Asian Boxing Council lightweight champion Saddam Kietyongyuth (17-0, 13 KO?s) is Thailand?s newest superstar and supremely confident in his abilities. The undefeated knockout artist from Krabi, Thailand is willing to fight all comers; unfortunately, there are few Asian fighters in the lightweight division willing to do battle with him and even fewer with a chance of defeating him. For the past year, AsiaBox Promotions has attempted to arrange a bout between Saddam Kietyongyuth and one fighter in Asia who can possibly test him, Japan-based Filipino Randy Suico (28-4-1, 24 KOs). Despite Suico?s recent loss, a bout between the two fighters makes perfect sense. The Filipino-Thai rivalry is indisputable, both fighters are exciting and have sensational power, and both have the skills to win a world championship. While we believe Mr. Suico is the consummate professional boxer, his manager, Joe Koizumi, has repeatedly rejected our proposals. We had hoped to make the fight on the undercard of the March 15, Nonito Donaire ? Eric Ortiz show in Manila, but once again, Mr. Koizumi made excuses and denied fans the opportunity to see this explosive match-up. We understand the prospect of fighting a young, hungry, KO artist is worrisome, but risks are a part of boxing, and quality fighters are willing to take chances. Just what is it going to take to make the fight between Saddam Kietyongyuth and Randy Suico? Mr. Koizumi?if getting your man in the ring is a question of money, how much will it cost? We made an extremely respectable offer, which you declined. If the location is a sticking point, where would you feel most comfortable fighting us? We offered to fight your man in the comfort of his own home, the Philippines, and again you declined. Japan, Thailand, or the Philippines, it makes no difference to us; we only need a referee who can count to ten. If you want to fight for a title, this also is no problem; we are the World Boxing Council?s current ABCO lightweight champion. If the brand of gloves is of concern to you, we can work this out, too. What does it say about Mr. Koizumi?s confidence in his fighter when we make all the concessions, provide an excellent payday, our title is at stake, and yet we still have to call out his fighter? Randy Suico, we implore you to speak with your manager. Tell him you are man enough to face our challenge. If you continue to avoid fighting Saddam Kietyongyuth, there is only one reason for doing so?fear. (PR) |
