WBO ESTABLISHES OFFICE IN THAILAND

The World Boxing Organization, during its last annual convention held late last year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida unanimously voted to put up a headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand which will serve as its office for its Asian operations.
WBO Vice-President for Asia Leon Panoncillo, the man credited for putting the WBO at the forefront among boxing bodies in Asia, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the new, spanking office which is located at Chaengwatana in Bangkok, Thailand.
The WBO, through its president Paco Valcarcel, has taken notice of the efforts and success of its Asia Pacific and Oriental operations, thus giving birth to the idea of putting up its Asian headquarters.
In the last two years or so, the WBO has established unparalleled successes in the Asian region, making it the most respected boxing body where Asian promoters take pride in putting up shows under the WBO sanctioning.
For instance, in the Philippines alone, the WBO has two world champions and 16 regional title-holders all waiting for their chance at the big time, indicating how active the organization is being promoted in the region.
Under Panoncillo's leadership, the WBO has reached new grounds, and is expected to do well in the years ahead in Asia, as it continues to abide by its avowed purpose of integrity and professionalism in the sport of boxing.
