DIB CAN?T ACCEPT FARENAS FIGHT
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 04 Jan 2009
 Billy Dib.
WBO featherweight title challenger Billy Dib, who dropped a unanimous decision to champion Steven Luevano in Atlantic City last October 18, can?t accept an offer to fight the Philippines No. 1 featherweight Michael Farenas in March.
WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa had requested us to check on the possibility of his prot?g? Farenas (24-2-2, 21 KO?s) taking on the 23 year old Dib who has a record of 21-1 with 11 knockouts in Manila in March.
Penalosa wants Farenas who scored a 3rd round stoppage of Thailand?s Sunan Thosen in the Mandaluyong Gym last December 27 to step up against a tough opponent in order to be able to assess the southpaw?s potential.
However, Australia?s well-known ?Promoter of the Year? Peter Maniatis said he had spoken to his good friend Billy Hussein, the trainer of Dib, who informed him that Dib couldn?t accept the offer since he has a fight against 22 year old undefeated fellow- Australian Davey Browne scheduled for March 8.
Maniatis suggested that we instead contact Indonesia?s Pino Bahari who handles undefeated Daud CinoYordan about a possible bout with Farenas.
The 21 year old Yordan is undefeated with a record of 23-0 with 17 knockouts.
The talented Indonesian scored a 2nd round TKO over Hardian Siregar last December 22. He also won an eight round majority decision over Antonio Meza last September 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Meza is the same Mexican fighter who lost a unanimous decision over twelve rounds to Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista in a WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title fight on December 7, 2007.
Yordan boasts of an eighth round knockout of Filipino Reman Salim on May 17, 2007 in Jakarta.
