PACQUIAO IS STILL NO. 1 POUND-FOR-POUND

The latest Ring Magazine rankings dated December 7, 2008, a day after the Dream Match, has indicated that Manny Pacquiao remains the world?s number one fighter pound-for-pound. He was already on the list for 262 weeks now, more than any other boxer in the top ten rankings.
At no.2 was the controversial Pacman foe, Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez. Welshman Joe Calzaghe was listed at no. 3. The pound-for-pound roll continues as follows: 4. Bernard Hopkins (USA), 5. Israel Vasquez (Mexico), 6. Antonio Margarito (Mexico), 7. Rafael Marquez (Mexico), 8. Miguel Cotto (Puerto Rico), 9. Ivan Calderon (Puerto Rico), and 10. Ricky Hatton (England).
In The Ring rankings for the lightweight division however, the champion is Juan Manuel Marquez with Pacquiao at the no. 2 rankings behind no.1 Nate Campbell.
The Pacman was also listed at no. 5 in the welterweight division behind the following: 1. Antonio Margarito, 2. Miguel Cotto, 3. Shane Mosley, and 4. Joshua Clottey. The Ring welterweight title remains vacant as of December 7, 2008.
The Ring Magazine Ratings are compiled by the famous magazine's editorial board, with the participation of The Ring Ratings Panel of boxing journalists from around the world. The Ring magazine is considered as the Bible of Boxing and the champions declared by the authoritative magazine is named the People?s Champion.
The present Ring Magazine champions include: Joe Calzaghe ? light-heavyweight, Kelly Pavlik ? middleweight, Ricky Hatton ? junior welterweight, Juan Manuel Marquez ? lightweight, Israel Vasquez ? junior featherweight, and Ivan Calderon ? junior flyweight. All other weight divisions have no declared champions.
