THE DEVIL WINDS ARE BLOWING

PhilBoxing.com

Los Angeles, CA:- Devil winds are blowing in Southern California. Last Thursday, the first one called Sundowner blew into the ultra rich Montecito section of Santa Barbara County west of LA. It apparently brought down power lines which ignited the dry brush and eventually burned more than two hundred luxurious homes some of which are the multi-million dollar kind. Amongst those who lost a home is actor Rob Lowe. Eighteen hundred acres of grass and forest land burned.

Then last night, the one often referred to as ?Santa Ana? blew in at 80 miles and hour at the Sylmar hills area northwest of Los Angeles. A fire somehow ignited and within 3 hours more than 500 units in a mobile home park and 8000 acres of brush land on a national forest burned leaving hundreds of people homeless.

Early tonight, the Santa Ana?s decided to go down the Yorba Linda Hills in Orange County. A fire storm resulted and by late evening, 104 of luxury hillside homes were gone and more than 15 thousand people were evacuated to emergency shelters. Even a major hospital was threatened, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of patients. The fire was so hot that news reports indicate metal street signs simply melted away.

In Hollywood this afternoon, another type of devil wind was blowing. It does not burn homes and forests. But, it can easily knock you down.

It is one that whooshes by you if you stand next to the ring at the Wildcard Gym while Pacquiao is shadow boxing. This devil wind is generated by the blinding speed of Pacquiao. It can knock down even the very best. Just ask Morales, Barerra, Marquez and Jorge Solis. And, if Oscar de la Hoya does not pay the proper attention, he too maybe blown way too by this devil wind.

Speaking of Pacquiao, the Filipino fireball is back into his usual training form. Unlike early this week when he was a bit off during sparring, today Pacquiao was a tireless dynamo. And, he had that contented look of a fighter whose training camp is going along very well.

Today, Pacquiao sparred a total of 10 rounds with his 3 regular sparring partners.

He performed so well that one of his trainers, Nonoy Neri could not help but show a whole lot of exuberance. ?Tignan mo, Doc. Balik ang bilis ni Manny. Di ba mas maganda ngayon?? Buti na lang binago naming yun ibang bagay sa training niya (Check it out Doc. Manny?s speed is back. It?s good we made some changes. Isn?t that nice??)

Of course, it was! And if the trend continues, Oscar de la Hoya will be in one hell of a fight.

The devil wind may well blow him away!

On the lighter side.

It is nice to know that no fire was reported at the Big Bear Mountains as of this writing. I guess that mountain resort had its share of fire last year when many homes burned.

With that, if de la Hoya losses on December 6th, for sure he will not have the same excuse as Barrera who had to move his training camp due to forest fires while training for a fight against Pacquiao. Oh yes, Barrera lost that fight.
