BIG BOXING CARD AT PUERTO PRINCESA TONIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Big time boxing goes to Puerto Princesa tonight (Saturday) when Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn, Vice Mayor Lucilo Bayron and the City Council of Puerto Princesa in coordination with Johnny Elorde Management International, PAGCOR and the Department of Tourism present 'HAMON SA PRINCESA', a back to back Championship starting at 6:00 PM at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum.

Women's International Boxing Association (WIBA) Intercontinental Champion Gretchen Abaniel will defend her crown against the tough Tukta Sor. Ratana of Thailand in the top main event. The other main fight will feature the defense of Philippine welterweight Champion Arnel Tinampay against top contender Yuri Noda.

Abaniel, who hails from Puerto Princesa, is expected to be the top favorite as a lot of people in the City will troop to the modern 10,000 capacity coliseum to see their province mate defend the crown. Entrance is being offered FREE to the public by Mayor Hagedorn.

Equally getting great attention is the fight between Marnelle Verano, who is also from Puerto Princesa, and Teeraporn Pannimit of Thailand. Also seeing action is RP Featherweight champion Vinvin Rufino who will see action against another Thai fighter, No. 1 rated Kongsurin Sishshoei.

What may stole thunder from the show is the fight of the grandson of the great Gabriel 'Flash' Elorde, Juan Martin 'Bai' Elorde, undefeated in his 6 pro fights, who is pitted against the tough Romnick Dejano.

The City Council of Puerto Princesa is making sure that this boxing card will live up to the city being called the Sports Tourism capital of the country. Mayor Hagedorn added, that this will also serve as an inspiration to the many fighters in the city eager to follow in the footsteps of Flash Elorde and Manny Pacquiao.

Other boxers appearing in the card are: Joram Ballar vs Vic Racuma in 6 rounds, Glenn Suminguit vs Gerald Tumbagahan in 4 rounds and Antonio Bonita in another 4 round bout.

There will also be amateur fights to be staged by Kagawad Rogelio Castro of the City Council starting at 3:00 PM. Boxing aficionados are advised to go to the Coliseum early to be able to get good seats as a record crowd in attendance is expected to pack the coliseum.
