DOMINGO-VORAPIN ON SEP 14 AT CEBU COLISEUM
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sat, 23 Aug 2008

WBO Oriental bantamweight champion Michael Domingo of the Philippines will defend his title against former world champion and veteran Thai campaigner Ratanachai Sor Vorapin on Sep. 14 at the Cebu Coliseum, Sammy Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions has announced today.
The 28-year-old ALA Gym mainstay Domingo (36-14-2 15KOs), captured his regional title with a smashing 2nd round KO against Indonesia's Rivo Rengkung last July 26 at the Cebu Coliseum. Domingo had earlier made his mark with a victory over erstwhile undefeated Mexican prospect Miguel Roman during the Philippines vs Mexico World Cup in Sacramento, CA on Aug. 11, 2007.
The 31-year-old Vorapin (73-10-0 49KOs), captured the WBO bantamweight title against Cruz Carbajal of Mexico in 2004 and successfully defended it once against Maurico Martinez of Panama in 2005 but lost the title to Jhonny Gonzales of Mexico during the Mexico-Thailand World Cup on Oct. 29, 2005 at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, AR.
Vorapin's last outing was against current WBO bantamweight title holder Gerry Penalosa of the Philippines at the Araneta Coliseum last April where Vorapin lost by TKO in the 8th round. Penalosa had earlier snatched the belt from Jhonny Gonzales with a well-timed hook to the liver for a Penalosa KO victory during the Philippines-Mexico World Cup last year.
The Domingo-Vorapin tussle dubbed as 'Daytime Boxing, Philippines vs Thailand' and is jointly promoted by SSG Promotions and Thailand's Kokiet Group, will start at 9:00 o'clock in the morning and will be beamed live to Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and Cambodia.
