Alex Bray and Gabriela Tellez Capture WBA Titles, Dainier Pero Scores Impressive Stoppage at “Night of Champions XIV” in Orlando

PhilBoxing.com

ORLANDO, FL (February 23, 2026) — Boxlab Promotions delivered another memorable evening of world-class boxing this past Friday as “Night of Champions XIV” lit up the elegant Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. The action-packed event showcased championship performances, explosive knockouts, and rising stars staking their claim in their respective divisions. The replay is available now on the Boxlab Promotions YouTube channel.

In the 10-round main event, undefeated super welterweight Alex Bray (11-0, 8 KOs) of Melbourne, Florida, turned in a dominant performance to capture the WBA Continental Latin American title, earning a dominant unanimous decision victory over Argentina’s Rodrigo Damian Coria (15-8, 3 KOs).

Bray controlled the tempo from the opening bell, showcasing sharp combinations, ring IQ, and disciplined defense en route to decisive scorecards of 97-93, 99-91, and 100-90.

“This is what I’ve worked for my entire life,” said Bray. “To win my first regional title in a main event setting in Florida, my home state, was unforgettable. Coria is a tough, experienced fighter, but I knew if I stayed composed and stuck to the game plan, I would break him down round by round. Tonight wasn’t just about winning, it was about proving I’m ready for bigger opportunities. This belt is just the beginning.”

The 10-round co-main event saw undefeated Cuban heavyweight Dainier “The Fear” Pero (13-0, 10 KOs) defend his WBA Continental USA Heavyweight title in evident fashion against heavy-handed veteran Donald Haynesworth (19-9-1, 17 KOs). Pero wasted no time asserting dominance, landing powerful combinations that resulted in Haynesworth suffering a broken nose. Unable to continue, Haynesworth was stopped in the second round, giving Pero another statement victory. Ranked WBA #7, Pero is expected to climb even higher in the heavyweight rankings.

“I had a great training camp, and it showed in this fight,” Pero said. “Every fight is a step toward the world title, and I treat it that way. I respected Haynesworth’s power, but I knew my speed, conditioning, and preparation would separate me. I’m ready for the next level. The heavyweight division is on notice, I’m coming for everyone.”

Rising lightweight prospect Gabriela Tellez (7-0, 3 KOs) pressed her opponent Crystal Garcia Nova (11-6, 10 KOs) for as long as the fight lasted. Nova was forced to retire after sustaining a shoulder injury under relentless pressure from Tellez wining a first-round stoppage to win the WBA Female Continental Americas title. Tellez expressed confidence following her championship victory.

“I came in prepared to dominate from the first bell,” said Tellez. “Although the fight ended due to injury, I trained to set a fast pace and show I belong at the top of this division. Winning this title proves that I’m on my way to bigger fights. This is a huge step forward, and I’m only getting started.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, commended the standout performances of Bray, Pero, Tellez, and the rest of the card. “Alex Bray showed maturity beyond his years in a 10-round main event. He controlled the fight beautifully and earned that title with discipline and skill.”

“Dainier Pero continues to prove he is a legitimate heavyweight contender. His composure, power, and technical ability make him one of the most exciting rising heavyweights in the world.”

“Gabriela Tellez is special. Her confidence and poise under the lights demonstrate she’s ready for bigger stages.”

Piedra also praised middleweight Pedro Veitia’s performance (7-0-1, 7 KOs), who remained unbeaten with a third-round stoppage of Rashad Bowens. Veitia is promoted by Boxlab Promotions, along with Warriors Boxing and DreamBigg Promotions.

“Pedro Veitia’s finishing ability is something you can’t teach. Seven knockouts in seven wins speaks for itself. He’s another fighter we believe has a very bright future.”
