Fundora vs. Thurman Expected to Land on Manny Pacquiao's January Undercard By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Mon, 20 Oct 2025 ![]() Boxing fans could be treated to a star-studded card early next year, as a major title defense is reportedly being slated for the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's highly anticipated second comeback bout. According to a post by boxing insider Mike Coppinger of X, Sebastian Fundora's WBC junior middleweight title defense against Keith Thurman is expected to be featured on the undercard of the upcoming Pacquiao event. Sources told Ring Magazine that the fight is aiming for a late-January date. The Fundora vs. Thurman boxing match was originally scheduled on October 25, 2025 but was postponed due to a hand injury sustained by Fundora. The news provides further context for the return of eight-division world champion Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao. The Hall of Fame boxer had previously announced that his second fight of his comeback will take place on January 24th in Las Vegas. However, Coppinger's post also noted that the date for Pacquiao's main event could potentially shift. Sources indicated the fight might be moved back one week to January 31st. The addition of Fundora vs. Thurman would add significant star power to the event. Thurman, the former welterweight champion, was inactive for three years but returned in March this year as a junior middleweight against Australian Brock Jarvis whom he stopped in the 3rd round in Sydney, Australia. Fundora, nicknamed "The Towering Inferno" for his 6'6" height in the 154-pound division, is the current WBC junior middleweight champion. Fundora last saw action last July with a dominant 7th round knockout victory against Tim Tszyu in a rematch. A defense against a notable former champion like Keith Thurman would be a major test for the young titleholder. Official announcements regarding the specific date, location, and full card details are still pending from the promoters. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dong Secuya. ![]() |
