HALL OF FAME FLIES FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF FOR TWO-DIVISION CHAMPION RICKY HATTON

CANASTOTA, NY - SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of two-division world champion and Hall of Famer Ricky Hatton who passed away September 14 at the age of 46.
“With his crowd pleasing, all action ring style, Ricky Hatton captured the imagination of fans around the world and was one of boxing’s most popular stars,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “The Hall of Fame offers our condolences to the Hatton family and joins the boxing world in mourning his passing.”
Born on October 6, 1978, Hatton turned professional in 1997 after compiling a 73-7 amateur record. During his championship career “The Hitman” captured world titles in the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions and scored wins over Vince Phillips, Freddie Pendleton, Carlos Maussa, Luis Collazo, Paulie Malignaggi and Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu among others. Hatton retired from the ring in 2012 with a professional record of 45-3 (32 KOs). In 2007, he was awarded the MBE for services to sport. In retirement he trained and promoted boxers in the UK.
In 2024, Hatton was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
