At the traditional WBC “Coffee Tuesday” press conferences, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz received his belt, which validates him as the interim WBC super lightweight champion, from the World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán.

With a dominant and undeniable performance, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz defeated Omar Salcido by unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The fight, originally scheduled against Ángel Fierro, had a last-minute change after the Tijuana native withdrew, allowing Salcido to take the fight. However, Cruz was efficient and ruthless in the ring throughout.

The judges’ scorecards reflected the “Pitbull’s” superiority: 100-88, 99-89, and 99-89, which included a knockdown in th Interime final round and a point deduction for Salcido for repeated clinches.

With this victory, Cruz wins the interim WBC super lightweight title and positions himself as one of the main contenders in the division.

“Isaac has given very thrilling fights throughout his career and has put Mexico at the highest level. It is a true source of pride for me to present him with this belt, which shows what a Mexican warrior is. You have a beautiful family, and you do everything for them. We are very proud of you and your career,” commented WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán.

In an emotional moment, Isaac Cruz Sr. received his trainer’s belt from the “Pitbull.” This special recognition for champion trainers is one of a kind, inspired by the traditional towel used at all times by these men who, behind the spotlights, instilling all their passion and dedication to their pupils.

Since Subriel Matías has issued the challenge, I want to tell him that we are ready. Let our promoters talk, and we will fight. Let’s make a new chapter in the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry,” commented “Pitbull” Cruz.

For his part, Isaac Cruz Sr. said: “I am very proud of my son, and I want to congratulate him for being an example
