By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Tue, 17 Dec 2024

FORMER three-time world champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan weighed in at 104.2 lbs. while unbeaten Kha Lu of Australia stepped the scales at 102.5 in today’s final weigh-in for the vacant International Boxing Organization [IBO] World minimumweight title fight tomorrow, December 18 at Bula Gym in General Santos City.
The 41-year-old Takayama was “very nice and respectful” according to Lu.
“It was an honour to meet him but we are the one coming home with that belt,” said the 24-year-old Lu.
It was the first time that the two fighters had met each other despite both staying at the Grand Summit Hotel.
“They will clash tomorrow with a star-studded line-up in the supporting cast,” said promoter Jean Claude “JC’ Manangquil, president of Sanman Boxing Promotions.
They are:
Reymart Gaballo vs. James Pagaling [10 rds.]
Gabriel Santisma vs. Ponciano Remandiman [10 rds.]
Vince Paras vs. Anthony Gilbuela [8 rds.]
Abubakar Yanong vs. Ernesto Camiguing [6 rds.]
Alex Santisiman vs. Ryan Rey Ponteras [6 rds.]
Dave Apolinario vs. Jeny Boy Boca [6 rds.]
The Christmas boxing presentation is also brought by Sanman’s John Ray Manangquil and Dexter Tan.
