Arca places 41st in Bangkok Open

FM Christian Gian Arca of Panabo City made it at 41st place with a total of 5.5 points in the 21st Bangkok Chess Club Open 2024 which ended April 21 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Arca defeated WIM Dejankar Mrudul of India in the 9th and final round.
IM Daniel Quizon and IM Paulo Bersamina became the best finishers for the Philippines at 17th and 18th places with 6.5 points apiece.
Next is IM Michael Concio Jr. [26th] and CM Ivan Travis Cu [31st] both with 6.0 points followed by Arca at 41nd with 5.5.
FM Mark Jay Bacojo is at 43rd with 5.5.
Tied with 5.0 points were Oscar Joseph Cantela, IM Jan Emmanuel Garcia, WGM Janelle Mae Frayna, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, Ruelle Canino, Jerish John Velarde and WIM Kylen Joy Mordido.
Bunched at 4.5 points were WIM Bernadette Galas, WFM Shania Mae Mendoza, WIM Marie Antoinette San Diego and WFM Allanney Jia Doroy.
The rest of the Filipinos were: Enrica Armenta [4.0], Mhage Sebastian [4.0], Franklin Loyd Andes [3.5], Arvie Lozano [2.0] and Allan Diez [1.0].
GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy of Ukraine and GM Guba Mitrabha of India were tied at 7.5 points in 9 rounds. Bernadskiy beat Mitrabha by a tiebreak.
GM Denis Makhnev of Kazakhstan was third.
There were a total of 227 participants with 11 Grand Masters.
