NBA Daily: Spurs Dominate Raptors 121-103

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – San Antonio is not just all about Victor Wembanyama. This version of the Spurs is complete from top to bottom, as head coach Mitch Johnson’s wards dominated the Toronto Raptors from start to finish 121-103 on Monday night (Tuesday morning, Philippine time) at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Spurs were firing on all cylinders with six players in double figures. Five Spurs also had at least 4 assists (Harper 6, Barnes 5, Vassell 5, Wembanyama 4, Castle 4) and the team had 29 assisted field goals throughout the ball game.

They also made 39 of their 67 field goal attempts (58.2%), including 13-for-27 from beyond-the-arc (48.1%) and shot 30-for-36 from the free throw line (83.3%).

French phenom Victor Wembanyama only had 24 points, although via ultra-efficient fashion, hitting 7 of his 8 field goal attempts and was perfect from the charity stripe on 10 tries. He also grabbed 15 boards, dished out 4 assists, and had 1 steal and 1 block.

Stephon Castle added 22 markers, while Harrison Barnes and Devin Vassell had 18 and 15, respectively for the Spurs. Filipino-American Rookie guard Dylan Harper finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal off-the-bench.

RJ Barrett led the Raptors with 25 on 9-for-18 field goal shooting and perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Collin Murray Boyles added 19 off-the-bench. Immanuel Quickley and Brandon Ingram were the only other Raptors in double-figures with 15 and 14, respectively.

After back-to-back games, the Spurs will have a two-day rest before hosting the Miami Heat on Thursday night (Friday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Raptors will try to bounce back as they travel home to host another Texas team in the Rockets on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time).
