Nuggets Still Can't Coast to the Finish By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Fri, 12 Apr 2024 Denver needs to win its remaining two games against Utah and Memphis to avoid any complications to its disadvantage should Minnesota and Oklahoma manage to force a tie at the top at the end of the regular season. True, the Nuggets were able to square their season series versus the Timberwolves with a 116-107 victory at home yesterday. But should a tie occur, Minnesota will get first on account of its better division record. The case vis a vis the Thunder is more dire as Oklahoma won three of its season series games versus the Nuggets. A tie would put the Thunder at first. If there is any consolation, that is, Oklahoma has the Milwaukee Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks as opponents in the last two games. Both the Bucks and the Mavericks, apart from being tough opposites, are also in need of wins to improve their records and stave off rivals for their final playoff seeding. Minnesota would have the Atlanta Hawks and the Phoenix Suns as last two opponents. While the Hawks are assured of their play in spot in the East, the Suns need to continuously win to have a chance of getting the 6th place in the West. Therefore despite being up against relatively weak opponents, the Nuggets cannot coast or take a chance against any upset, as they may still be tied for first by any or both of the Thunder and the T-Wolves. Playing in Utah is very difficult because of its altitude. The Grizzlies may also go all out for a finale win. The Nuggets at present is at the top of the West with 56-24 record followed by Minnesota and OKC both at 55-25.
