 Genesis Libranza (C).
FORMER Philippine flyweight champion Genesis “Cobra” Libraza will fight John Vincent “The Phantom” Pangga in the main event on August 24 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
The 31-year-old Libranza [21-4-0, 13KOs] of Agusan del Sur arrived in Manila from Benguet together with trainer Alan Alegria.
“I will try my best. This fight is really good because the opponent is also good,” said Libranza.
Libranza had just sparred with stablemates Edward Heno and Reymart Alicaba in the Highland Boxing Gym in Benguet.
Libranza has completed more than two months of training.
Libranza lost in his last fight against Landile Naxeke of South Africa by a 3rd round knockout on September 14, 2024 in Vodacom Dome, Midrand.
Libranza said that he did not see any single fight of Pangga. But he said that Pangga is a good fighter.
“This will really be really good fight,” said Libranza
Pangga [12-1-1, 7KOs], on the other hand, of Cagayan de Oro had a technical draw due to a head butt with Renoel Pael of Leyte last April 11 in Toledo City.
Cucuy Elorde of UKC Pro Boxing Edition is promoting the fight with Edmundo Dellosa as the matchmaker.
