Bucks Beat Nuggets; T-Wolves Show Clippers Who's Boss By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Tue, 13 Feb 2024 Today's loaded NBA schedule saw two champion teams noted for their superstar big men and high scoring guards clashing for the second time this season. It also featured the clash between two teams jockeying to pole position in the West and a slew of pairs simply out to improve their standings and chances to get into magic 8. Milwaukee came in with Giannis Antetokoumpo and Damiel Lillard. Denver had Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray and it promise to be mano a mano. But the Nuggets lost Murray early in the second quarter on injury. That probably made all the difference as the Bucks got back at the Nuggets 112-95 in their home floor. Denver had earlier beaten Milwaukee on January 29. Giannis topscored for the Bucks with 36 supported by Lillard (18) and Portis (15). Jokic had 29 plus 14 and 11 respectively from Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jnr but missed the scoring of Murray who only had 3 points and 2 rebounds before he went out. The loss brought down the Nuggets to 4th in the West with a 36-18 record. Meanwhile, the West leading Minnesota Timberwolves (37-16) showed the pursuing LA Clippers who's boss at this juncture with a 121-100 thrashing improving their lead to 1.5 won games over the Clippers (35-17). while keeping a full won game ahead of idle OKC Thunder (36-17). The twin tower of Karl Anthony Towns (24) and Rudy Gobert (23) plus Anthony Edwards (17) led the T-Wolves. In other significant games- Philadelpia 76ers (32-21) edge the Cleveland Cavaliers (35-17), 123-121. The Cavs remained at 2nd in the East behind Boston (40-12). The Golden State Warriors improved to 26-25 with a 129-107 romp over the Utah Jazz (25-28) dislodging the Jazz from 10th spot in the Western Conference standing.
