Philippine Army Cpl. Raquel C. Suan rules Cabanatuan chess tourney

Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija---Philippine Army Corporal (Cpl.) Raquel C. Suan became the first winner of the Cabanatuan Rapid chess tournament concluded here recently at the SM City Cabanatuan.
The 32-year-old Suan, unit assign at 14IMB IMCOM PA at Camp General Mateo M. Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal actually finished in a tie with Samuel Mateo and Jewello John Vegafria at 5.5 points, but prevailed in the Bucholz tiebreak to notch the title.
Suan, who hails from Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental said that the competition is aimed at showcasing the chess skills as well as displaying sportsmanship and fostering camaraderie among the woodpushers.
Teijin Marquez, WNM Jersey Marticio, Joshua Alindogan and Eduardo Lacson wound up fourth to seventh with identical 5.0 points.
Carlo Lucas, Gian Miel Mandagan, Jeremy Marticio, Rainjay Elejo and Rodmarc Estabillo settled for eight to twelve with 4.5 points apiece.
John Red De Leon emerged as the top College with 4.0 points, Joselito Marcos got the top Senior award with 4.0 points, while Kristel Bunag was the brightest among the female entries with 4.0 points.-Marlon Bernardino-
