Oliver Gomez Supervisor for Kazuto Ioka vs Josber Perez

PhilBoxing.com

The highly-anticipated WBA Super Flyweight World Title clash between Japanese legend and four-division world champion, Kazuto Ioka, and the formidable Venezuelan challenger, Josber Pérez, is rapidly approaching. Set to unfold on the grand stage of the Ota-City Gym in Tokyo, Japan, on New Year's Eve, this bout promises to be the thrilling conclusion to the world title fights of 2023, broadcasting live on ABEMA TV.

Tasked with overseeing this championship showdown is none other than Oliver Gomez, the respected former Ratings Committee Chairman of the WBA and the same supervisor who presided over the recent epic battle between the 'Monster' Naoya Inoue and Marlon Tapales for the Undisputed Super Bantamweight title at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

Expressing his honor in representing the WBA during these momentous fights in Japan, Gomez, a graduate from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a successful businessman in Panama, remarked, "It is an honor to represent the WBA during these exciting fights in Japan, the Land that has given, and keeps on giving so much to the sport of boxing." Gomez also serves as the advisor to WBA President Gilberto Mendoza.

Adding to the pre-fight spectacle, Gomez participated in the press conference for 'Ioka vs Pérez,' where the Japanese star and his Venezuelan challenger met for the first time in a media event that heightened the anticipation surrounding this championship clash.

Kazuto Ioka, the esteemed 34-year-old, boasts an impressive resume as a four-weight-class world champion, showcasing his skill and determination against elite competition from Minimumweight to Super Flyweight. Alongside Naoya Inoue, Ioka is regarded as one of Japan's most popular boxers, and 'Ioka vs Pérez' promises to be another chapter in his storied career.

On the opposing corner, Josber Pérez, also known as "Avalancha," is set to challenge for a world title for the second time in his professional boxing journey. Four years ago, the 28-year-old Venezuelan faced WBA Flyweight champion Artem Dalakian, falling short in a points decision. Now, Pérez aims to secure a decisive victory over Ioka and clinch the coveted world champion title.

The question looms: Will Pérez achieve his dream of becoming a world champion, or will Kazuto Ioka's superior skills and talent prevail, as widely expected by fans and pundits alike?

Promoted by Yusuke Ninomiya of Shisei Promotions and with matchmaker Takuya Kiya orchestrating the pivotal matchup, 'Ioka vs Pérez' promises to be a fitting conclusion to the year's boxing spectacle. As the stage is set, fans eagerly await the clash in Tokyo, where may the best man emerge victorious on New Year's Eve!
