Hanoi 9-Ball Open Round of 64 Results: 9 Pinoys Win, 8 Lose as Biado Loses to Sanchez-Ruiz

Nine Filipinos enter the round of 32 as eight compatriots exited in the ongoing Hanoi Open Pool Championships most notably former US Open 9-ball champion Carlo Biado who lost to world number one-ranked Francisco Sanchez Ruiz of Spain, 6-10.

Filipinos who won their matches in Round of 64:

Jeff de Luna vs Nguyen Anh Tuan (Vietnam) - 10-2: Jeff de Luna showed his prowess on the green felt, dominating his Vietnamese opponent with a commanding 10-2 victory.

Michael Angelo Feliciano vs Ngo Quang Trung (Vietnam) - 10-4: Michael Angelo Feliciano exhibited skill and finesse in a convincing 10-4 win over Ngo Quang Trung.

Johann Chua vs Pijus Labutis (Lithuania) - 10-4: Johann Chua displayed his talent against Lithuania's Pijus Labutis, securing a solid 10-4 victory.

James Aranas vs Gerson Martinez Boza (Peru) - 10-4: James Aranas continued the Filipino winning streak with a 10-4 triumph over Peru's Gerson Martinez Boza.

Jefrey Roda vs Tang Ching Ting (Taiwan) - 10-2: Jefrey Roda demonstrated his mettle with a convincing 10-2 win against Taiwan's Tang Ching Ting.

Bernie Regalario vs Loung Duc Thien (Vietnam) - 10-8: Bernie Regalario engaged in a thrilling battle, ultimately prevailing 10-8 against the tenacious Loung Duc Thien.

Lee Vann Corteza vs Roland Garcia (Philippines) - 10-6: In an all-Filipino matchup, Lee Vann Corteza bested Roland Garcia with a 10-6 victory.

Jeffrey Ignacio vs Lo Van Xuan (Vietnam) - 10-5: Jeffrey Ignacio secured a 10-5 win over Vietnamese player Lo Van Xuan.

Kyle Amorato vs Patric Gonzales (Philippines) - 10-6: Kyle Amorato displayed skill and determination as he outshone Patric Gonzales with a 10-6 win.

Filipino Players Who Fell Short:

Carlo Biado vs Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (Spain) - 6-10
Antony Raga vs Ralf Souget (Germany) - 9-10
Arniel Leonor vs Naoyuki Oi (Japan) - 9-10
Michael Baoanan vs Shane Boening (USA) - 6-10
Dennis Orcullo vs Jonas Souto Camino (Spain) - 6-10
Oliver Joy Villafuerte vs Aloysius Yapp (Singapore) - 4-10

Big Names Triumph. The round of 64 also saw victories from some of the sport's most prominent figures:

Sanchez-Ruiz who won his match against Biado; Albin Ouschan (Austria) won over Chris Melling (Britain) - 10-5; Albin Ouschan, Shane van Boening, Thorsten Hohmann, Jason Shaw, Fedor Gorst, David Alcaide and Taiwan's Ko brothers Pin Yi and Pin Chung all clinched decisive wins, showcasing their formidable talent and ambition in this fiercely competitive event.

The Round of 64 also saw all six Vietnamese who saw action in the round lost their matches, four of them against Filipinos, leaving the host country without representation in the succeeding and more exciting rounds.
