IM Labog wins NM OJ Reyes birthday online chess tourney PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Jul 2023 MANILA– International Master Eric Idio Labog Jr. won the National Master Oshrie Jhames "Kuya OJ" Constantino Reyes 12 Year Old Birthday Online Chess Tournament virtually held at Lichess Platform on Monday, July 3, 2023. IM Labog, IM GwapingsAttack2002 on Lichess, finished with 122 points in 38 games for a win rate of 89 percent and performance rating of 2741 to win the bullet event, backed up by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based Jaime "Jimmy" Reyes. “I am very happy with my victory," said Labog, one of the top players of PCAP's Pasig City King Pirates under coach Franco Camillo. The online tournament had time control of one minute and players must win as many games in one and half hours of play, according to tournament director Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio of Bayanihan Chess Club. It shall be recalled that Labog got his International Master (IM) title when he achieved the mandatory 2200 Elo rating requirement during the Asian Juniors and Girls Chess Championship 2022 at the Knights Templar Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay City. Labog, who hails from Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, raised his Elo Standard rating of 2138 to 2242 to complete his IM title status. Labog won the under 18 category of the 20th ASEAN+ Age Group Chess Championships (Standard) in Myanmar in 2019. Thus, Labog got the direct IM title in the process. Allan Gabriel Hilario took the second spot with 101 points on 43 games and a win rate of 74 percent for a performance rating of 2675. In third place is Andres Bautista who had 90 points followed by National Master Julius Gonzales (89 points) and Tommy Segundo Jr. (77 points). Adjudged category winners are Sumer Justine Oncita (Top kiddie 12 years old and below), Woman National Master Ruelle Canino (Top Lady), John Franz de Asis (Top PWD), NM Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. (Top Media) and Eduardo Nival Campos Jr. (Top Senior 50 year old and above).-Marlon Bernardino-  |
