IIEE to participate in Invitational Chess Tournament of Sentro Artista By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Mon, 26 Jun 2023 MANILA---Camaraderie and networking among chess players of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) with other sectors are vital hence they continue to participate in chess events like the “Sentro Artista Chess Invitation” at Arton Strip by Rockwell, Blue Ridge A, 226 Katipunan, Quezon City (Beside Conti’s) on June 28, 2023 at 1:30pm. Special guest includes World Hall of Famer for Chess GM Eugene Torre , Hon. Hexilon Alvarez, the son of former Senator Heherson Alvarez who is the current President & CEO of Intercontinental Broadcasting Network, Inc. There will be 25 players from IIEE, 1 Electronic Engineer, a lady mechanical engineer and the rest are artists. From IIEE are Dion Urbina, Chester Concordia, Jeff Pascua, Michael Suacillo, Ronald Donasco, Julian Paul Querubin, Eric Frigillana, Apollo Pablo Zantua, Raul Ochavez, Ryan Quintana, Sam zantua, Karlycris Clarito, Tuazon Novo, Evaristo Tizon, Alex Guingab, Regie Bartolo, Allan Alvarez, Villanueva Banaguas, Mark Diaz, Lawrence Reloj, Wilson Pingkay, Benz Ablazo, Lito Daria, Aristotle Muyot and Mike Onia. Other players are Michael Angelo Palma, Bonalyn Ornido and Alvin Yen, IIEE chess vlogger. Also playing is Jao Mapa, the former member of Guwapings, a painter and Fine Arts graduate from UST. Other guest are IM Roderick Nava, IM Angelo Abundo Young, NM Marlon Bernardino, AGM Dr. Fred Paez, TV actor Jao Mapa, CoE Rudy Derez of UP Resilience Institute. The venue and organizer, Sentro Artist, with veteran journalist Jay Ruiz and wife Marj Ruiz had collectively created a distinctive home for talented Filipino artists around the country to showcase their masterpieces and for the chess enthusiast to play their pieces. The IIEE contingency is led by Engr. Allan Anthony Alvarez, the 2021 IIEE National President and the current chairman of National Branding and Promotion Committee. “This invitational Tournament for chess players particularly on engineering sectors are a prelude for the upcoming big event for IIEE chess happening on November 27, 2023 at SM MOA as part of the 48th Annual National Convention and the World Engineering Day on March 2024 of the Philippine Technological Council to be participated by 13 engineering association in the Philippines and possibly with other from Asean countries”said Engr. Allan Anthony Alvarez, the 2021 IIEE National President and the current chairman of National Branding and Promotion Committee. About Sentro Artista: Founded by Congressman Arjo Atayde, managing partners Jay and Marj Ruiz, along with businessmen Joseph Lumbad and wife Councilor Doc G Lumbad.
