JERUSALEM DEFENDS WBO WORLD TITLE AGAINST COLLAZO ON MAY 27

WBO Minimumweight World Champion Melvin Jerusalem will be tested as he defends his belt against Puerto Rican contender Oscar Collazo. The fight will take place in Indio, California on May 27 as part of the co-featured attraction of the Alexis Rocha versus Anthony Young fight card.
Collazo is a decorated amateur having won multiple national championships and the Pan-Am games. He is ranked number 10 by the ring magazine. Meanwhile Jerusalem recently grabbed the WBO diadem from Japanese champion Masataka Taniguchi via second round stoppage.
Jerusalem has experience on his side as he has 22 fights in his resume with two losses by decision. Collazo has only six fights but has knocked out 4 of his opponents. He may be a greenhorn professional but is a seasoned amateur boxer with great skills. The fight will be a good litmus test for the Filipino champion and a great world title ticket for the Puerto Rican.
Jerusalem is the kind of warrior who does not back out from challenges. He won his world title belt on the road before a hometown crowd and did it in a shocking fashion. “I am excited to fight Collazo. There are many great Puerto Rican champions and boxing runs in their blood. This is not an easy fight and I have been working hard in the gym to be in top shape. I don’t want to be a one hit wonder and I intend to stay champion for a long time”, Jerusalem stated.
