The Kids Took Center Stage for Opportunity to Shine During Canelo-Ryder Fight Week Streamed Live Worldwide on ProBox TV

May 2, 2023, Guadalajara, MX – As the boxing world descends upon Guadalajara, México for Canelo-Ryder fight week, Canelo Alvarez Promotions showed off three of their young undefeated boxers, on Wednesday, May 3.

The fight card, promoted by Canelo Alvarez Promotions, Close Y Talento Boxeo and No Boxing No Life, was streamed live world-wide on ProBox TV.

10 Rounds Lightweights (135) TV# 4
Jonathan Lopez_____________________vs_________________________Osvaldo Nuñez
Orlando, Florida______________________________________________Morelia, Michoacan
11-0, 9 Os________________________ _______________________________________5-5
131¼ lbs.___________________________________________________________131¼ lbs.
LOPEZ TKO at 1:11 of Round 3

Lopez didn't miss a jab everything was landing. In round 3 Malignaggi notes that Nunez was running out of ways to hide from danger. Fight stopped due to a cut over the left eye of Nunez that went the entire length of his eyebrow. Lopez connected clean on the eye with a semi left hook that came from down low with a lot of leverage.

8 Rounds Middleweights (160) TV#3
Lazaro Lorenzana__________________ _vs____________________________Alexis Rios
San Diego, California____________________________________________Zapopan, Jalisco
11-0, 8 KOs________________________________________________________4-3-1, 1 KO

LORENZANA W Split Decision - 79-73 R, 77-75 L, 77-75 L

Lorenzana was strong early on. For the first three rounds Lorenzana was able to dictate the pace. Things got testy in round 4, with both fighters being aggressive throwing hands. Algieri and Malignaggi note that if Rios had stepped it up a round earlier the fight could have gone the other way. He basically gave the first three rounds away.

6 Rounds Super Bantamweights (122) TV# 2
Oscar Hernandez_____________________vs________________________Joseph Morales
Guadalajara, Mexico___________________________________________Mexico City, Mexico

HERNANDEZ W Split Decision 58-56 M, 58-56 H, 59-55 H

Two nineteen-year-olds battle it out to go to the scorecards. Good action both ways. Morales got off to a quicker start but as the fight wore on it seemed Hernandez was getting the better of him as Morales was wearing down. Algieri sees it going either way and had a draw in his book.

6 Rounds Lightweights (135)
Cesar Ortiz__________________________vs______________________Antonio Gonzalez
Guadalajara, Mexico______ ____________________________________Mexico City, Mexico

6-0, 5 KOs________________________________________________________3-6, 1 KO

ORITIZ Wins UD 60-54, 60-54, 60-54

The 19-year-old Ortiz, with Chepo Reynoso in the corner, goes the distance for the first time, and the first time past round 2. Ortiz began the fight throwing heavy hands. Gonzalez showed himself to be a tough opponent. Took shots and came back with this own but outworked by Ortiz from start to finish.
