Suns douse red-hot Curry, outshoot Warriors in Phoenix, 130-119

PhilBoxing.com

San Leandro, California- The final score was closer than the actual game in Phoenix, but it was pretty much a blowout for the Suns.

Despite another sterling 50-point performance from Steph Curry, the Warriors added to their woes; they are now on the verge of being known as ‘Road Worriers’ having gone 0-8 away from home and are now 6-9 overall.

Klay Thompson dropped 19 points (5 rebounds, 2 assists) but struggled with another uncharacteristic 6-17 FG shooting and only 3-9 from downtown.

Jordan Poole’s 2 points pale in comparison to his previous 36-point outburst against the Spurs last Monday night. Streak shooter, he is becoming.

The Suns’ one-two-three punch-combo came in the form of Devin Booker who scored 27 points (2 rebounds, 9 assists), Cameron Payne who poured in a career-high 20 points (3 rebounds, 7 assists), and the haymaker Miles Bridges knocked in 23 points (9 rebounds, 9 assists) completed the rout.

It was even with their turnover rate, but the Suns had 26 PTO’s (points after turnovers) to the Warriors’ 17 points.

As a team, Phoenix shot 51.2% FG and 52.5% 3-PT. Their largest lead was 18-points.

As a team, Golden State shot 45.7% and 42.9 3-PT. Their largest lead was 5-points in the first quarter.

Golden State was playing with a full deck, yet it was not enough.
There were too many questions the Warriors left unanswered.
Can Stephen Curry keep up his MVP pace? Perhaps because only Chef Curry can do what he does.

Is it too early to sound the alarm for the reigning NBA champions Warriors? It is never too early for the Warriors’ stars and the young guns need to step up pronto.

Easier said than done, you say? Not for the Warriors who proved everyone wrong last year by winning it all.

Last Monday against the Spurs, Coach Steve Kerr had success rotating Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole. But tonight, the rotation did not click with J. Green, A. Lamb, D. DiVincenzo against the West Coast title contenders. Kevon Looney looked good at key plays, but James Wiseman needs to come back soon from G-league if they are to control the boards and the painted zone.

Upcoming:

Golden State Warriors: Host the New York Knicks on Friday night, November 18, 2022.

Phoenix Suns: Visit the Utah Jazz on Friday night, November 18, 2022.
