Ex-champ Geraldo fights AK-47 Tony Rashid June 3 in Tanzania

PhilBoxing.com

FORMER Philippine super bantamweight champion Mark Anthony “El Heneral” Geraldo of Bukidnon will go to Tanzania to fight against Tony “AK 47 Bad Belle” Rashid of Tanzania in the “Lion of the Ring International Fights” on June 3.

“I want a rematch but as my manager, they seem to be ok,” said the 30-year-old Geraldo.

Geraldo lost his title to Carl Jammers “Wonder Boy” Martin of Manila by unanimous decision last December 4, 2021 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

“For now, I can't answer because I'm still focused on my game now,” said Geraldo.

Geraldo is happy now because he is fighting in Tanzania.

Although Geraldo is still 160 pounds yet, he is slowly losing pounds at the gym in Bukidnon to gain 122 pounds. Geraldo has 38 wins, 10 loses, 3 draws and 19 knockouts.

He is training under former Philippine featherweight champion Samuel Duran.

“If my condition is good, I'm going to rip my opponent's face because I'm thirsty for victory,” said Geraldo.

Geraldo’s first out of the country fight was a unanimous decision loss from Kittipong Jaigrajang of Thailand last July 29, 2011 for the vacant WBC International Silver super flyweight title.

But in his second fight outside the country, Geraldo bounced back by knocking out Hirofumi Mukai of Japan in the 2nd round last April 7, 2013 in Osaka.

Geraldo again lost by a unanimous decision to McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico for the IBF eliminator last December 20, 2014 in Carolina in his third match.

Geraldo lost again in Japan to Takuma Inoue by a unanimous decision last July 6, 2015 at Korakuen Hall.

He went to Singapore to fight and lost to Jeson Umbal of Camiguin by a 5th round technical knockout for the vacant WBO Asian Boxing Council Continental super bantamweight title last July 23, 2016 at the Far East Square.

Geraldo, however, fought and beat compatriot Kenny Demecillo of Iligan by a unanimous decision for the vacant WBO Oriental bantamweight title in Hong Kong.

Geraldo fought but lost again by a knockout in the 7th round to Nordine Oubaali of France last December 16, 2017 for the WBC Silver bantamweight title at Billancourt.

Geraldo then won the vacant Philippine super bantamweight title by knocking out Virgel Vitor in the 6th round last February 11, 2019 in Tagbilaran City.

In his first title defense, Geraldo scored an 8th round TKO over Lorence Rosas of Palawan last September 20, 2019 in Mandaluyong City.

Geraldo lost his title to Martin by a unanimous decision last 2021 in Paranaque City.

Rashid, on the other hand, recently beat compatriot Bongni Mahlangu by a split decision to win the African Boxing Union super bantamweight title last February 25, 2022 in Dar-Es-Salaam.

The 28-year-old Rashid has 14 wins, 2 loses, 2 draws and 10 knockouts.

The boxing event is presented by Amoma Boxing Gym and Promotion.
