Arijan Goricki Wins in Rastatt, Germany; Improves to 8-0 PhilBoxing.com Sun, 25 Apr 2021 Arijan Goricki (L) of Croatia won his featherweight battle against Ilia Beruashvili (9-14-0, 6KOs) of Georgia at the Di Miceli Mobility in Oetigheim, Rastatt, Germany on Saturday, April 24. Below is his personal account of the fight which he sent to PhilBoxing.com: Beruashvili started the fight and surprised me with his awkward style of fighting. I didn't even have time to adapt and he was already starting to come forward with his head and cut my eye in the second round. He started to get more confidence in himself and started throwing a lot of punches, in hope that he will intimidate me. Although this was the first time I was ever cut, I was really happy how I was dealt with- I was a little afraid that the referee would stop the fight because of the bleeding, thankfully he didn't. From 3rd round I started walking down Beruashvili and started hitting him with clean punches to the chin and body, I saw that he couldn't take that tempo and that it was only a matter of time until he would not be able to follow that pace. In the 5th round he was deducted 1 point because of constant holding. From start of 6 round I hit him with couple clean punches to the liver, he couldn't take that so he took knee to breath. That moment the referee realised Beruashvili couldn't take this fight for 3 more rounds so he stopped fight. I was sorry he wasn't able to continue. I think that one more round was needed for me to put him to sleep. Beruashvili surprised me with his willingness to win and his strong chin and all the punches that he took. Since the start of the fight, Beruashvili hit me 8 times with his head. I'm glad I was able to KO him. Every opponent I want to KO, that's my goal from first to last round. Even Vincent Legrand (28-0) couldn't KO him. With this fight I improved my record to 8-0. Plan for this year is to have 4 more fights and with the last fight be in first 100-150 in the world, in the featherweight division. I hope that the situation with pandemic stops ASAP, that we can bring good fighters from South America. |
