DE LA HOYA VS. FORBES TICKETS GO ON SALE TOMORROW PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Mar 2008  LOS ANGELES - Tickets for Oscar de la Hoya's "Homecoming" fight against Steve Forbes on May 3 at The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4 starting at 10:00 a.m. PT. Tickets are priced as low as $25, with more than 17,000 tickets available at $75 or less. De La Hoya vs. Forbes will be the first-ever boxing event at The Home Depot Center's 27,000 seat soccer stadium and caps off a weekend of sports and entertainment activities that will celebrate the homecoming of De La Hoya, who has not fought in Los Angeles since 2000. The fight card will also feature an exciting undercard line-up to be announced shortly. Tickets, priced at $600, $300 and $150 for the floor, and $75, $50 and $25, will be available starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m. PT at all Ticketmaster outlets, including www.Ticketmaster.com The "Homecoming" weekend will start on Friday, May 2, with a live TeleFutura "Solo Boxeo" fight card and a live Latin music concert from The Home Depot Center's 8,000-seat tennis stadium. The match up will be televised live by HBO's World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT. A 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist and six-division world champion, "The Golden Boy" Oscar de la Hoya (38-5, 30 KO's) has fought boxing's elite for over 15 years, capturing titles from the 130 to 160 pound weight divisions. His history fighting in Los Angeles includes his professional debut against Lamar Williams at The Forum on November 23, 1992, his first world title bout on March 5, 1994, when he stopped Jimmi Bredahl at the Olympic Auditorium to win the WBO World Super Featherweight Title; and four fights later, when he returned to the Olympic Auditorium to stop John Avila in December of 1994. His last bout at home was in 2000 when he fought Shane Mosley at STAPLES Center. He now returns May 3. A former World Champion who has come up the hard way in the sport, Stevie "2 Pounds" Forbes (33-5, 9 KO's) is finally getting the big shot every fighter dreams of and has no intentions of losing on May 3. An 11-year veteran who won a world title in 2000, the 30-year-old Forbes is a slick stylist with a granite chin who has never been knocked down as a professional. Forbes put a halt to the comeback of highly-touted Francisco "Panchito" Bojado in October of last year. He plans on doing the same to De La Hoya this spring.  |
