Confirmed Mayhem: Casimero vs Nery June 6 in Japan! (Long Analysis)

PhilBoxing.com

The super exciting high-stakes rumble between Ormocanon star John Riel "Quadro Alas" Casimero and Mexican former champ Luis "Pantera" Nery is officially scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan!!

This thrilling fight is seen by many fans here in the Philippines and elsewhere as a career-defining moment for the popular Casimero as he seeks to re-enter the elite circle of the hot super bantamweight division where the undisputed king is "The Monster" Naoya Inoue.

Casimero vs Nery puts together two of the most explosive punchers in the super bantamweight division, making it a new classic Philippines vs Mexico that no real boxing fan in the Philippines can afford to miss!

The Power Factor!

Both fighters possess legitimate knockout power. Nery often relying on high-volume, aggressive pressure, while Casimero is known for his analytical "sharpshooter" approach, who waits for the perfect moment to land a counter-punch.

Fans have seen Casimero using that successful strategy time and again with great results. Will it work against Nery? That is what we have to find out!

How about their Styles?

Casimero (Orthodox) vs. Nery (Southpaw) creates tricky angles, right? Nery's hand speed and volume punching could be his biggest assets early on. Sure. but Casimero's experience against pressure fighters and his ability to adapt mid-fight make him dangerous throughout all 10 rounds.

The BIG Stakes: A victory for Casimero would immediately propel him toward a long-awaited showdown with Naoya Inoue, a fight he, fans and me want.

If Naoya loses to Nakatani (in boxing we really never know), then Casimero could perhaps battle Junto Nakatani or other top-tier champions. But a loss for Casimero would be a big setback. Simbako.

How about their Recent Form?

John Riel Casimero is coming from a round 5 KO victory against Tom Mizokoshi last December. However, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Japanese Kyonosuke Kameda in October, raising questions about Quadro Alas's consistency.

Meanwhile, the heavy bearded Mexican Luis "Pantera" Nery from Tijuana has has won his last two fights after being knocked out in six chapters by Naoya Inoue two years ago in Tokyo. Fans remember that early in the fight Nery rocked Inoue to the floor. Then, he paid dearly for that.

Nery, 31, is a former 2-division champion, while Casimero, 37, is a 3-division king!

Final points to bear in Mind: The Fight will be at a Catchweight of 124 pounds.

According to several reports, including Fightmag and MSN Sports, the official limit for this 10-round contest is a 124-pound catchweight. This issue of weight is important for a few reasons:

    1. Both Casimero and Nery have histories of struggling to make the weight, as the world of boxing knows. This weight seems comfortable for both.

    2. Recent History: Nery has recently fought at featherweight (126 lbs), making 124 lbs a middle ground for this rescheduled bout.

    3. As for Casimero, this popular Ormocanon weighed-in at 127½ pounds when he lost to Kyonosuke Kameda in October; but then he came down to 125½ lbs for a solid victory against Tom Mizokoshi last December.

It seems to me that at a 124-pounds-catchweight Quadro Alas could be really fast and strong. What do you think?

The fight is sanctioned for the Aichi Sky Expo in Japan, where the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) has previously suspended Casimero for missing weight in other bouts, and has also suspended Nery for the same reasons. Mmmm....

Johnriel Casimero stands triumphantly over a defeated Tom Mizokoshi in the fifth round of their featherweight clash at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname—the same arena where Casimero will face Luis Nery on June 6.

Let's hope that both of them will come on weight for their own benefit and the benefit of fans who want to watch an exciting battle. Time to get in weight they have. They have so much time to get it done, so lets hope for the best!

On fight night, will the Mexican find the way to dominate the skilled and popular Ormocanon?

Or will Casimero handsomely outbox and defeat Nery with ring smarts on June 6 in Japan, going on to challenge for a world title again, hopefully against Naoya Inoue? Can he do to Nery the same thing he did to Mizokoshi (see the pic?).

We'll find out on June 6. Laban Pinoy 🇵🇭 May the Best Man Win!
