San Manuel, Tarlac Mayor Donya Cresencia Tesoro is spearheading a two-day chess fest scheduled on May 22 and 23, 2026.
Joining Mayor Tesoro in organizing the chess tournament, simultaneous exhibition, and chess clinic are Jaasiel Laine Tolentino, Rafael "Rafa" Garcia, Anjelo Joshua Cabuyan Pabunan, and RD A. Viduya.
According to Jestoni Tolentino, Asia's First Grandmaster Eugene Torre, a native of Iloilo City, is invited to perform the traditional ceremonial moves and serve as the guest speaker. Meanwhile, Filipino and United States chess master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr., who hails from Binalonan, Pangasinan, will conduct the chess simultaneous exhibition. National Master Romeo Mercado Alcodia, a proud son of San Manuel, Tarlac, will lead the chess clinic. (Marlon Bernardino)
