Filipina Competing for USA AAU Team in Germany

Rachel Marcial of San Leandro, California is traveling to Germany with the USA National AAU Team to compete in a world meet for taekwondo starting March 8, 2008.
The USA Team consisting of 16 seniors and 22 junior members is headed by Mike Friello and managed by Skip Valle.
The meet will be held in Hamburg, Germany. 832 competitors signed up from different countries. Spain is sending the most number of people in their delegation. They will be sending 71 athletes and officials. Poland is second with 65 and the USA, third with 59.
The 2008 USA AAU All Adult Team.
Marcial will compete on the ?Fin? division where competitors weight about 103.6 lbs. As a competitor, she has been winning many events. In 1999 for instance, she won the gold medal at an event held at the Olympic Team training site. She was also the ?Most Outstanding female competitor? at the Stanford Spring Open held in 2001. In 2007 she was the first place winner SWUG Team Trials.
Marcial is the fiancee of IBF World Flyweight Champion Nonito Donaire.
