NEW ALA FIGHTER DEBUTS IN DANAO TODAY
PhilBoxing.com Sat, 23 Feb 2008
It will not be long before Danao City becomes one of Cebu?s boxing hotbeds as it unfolds another slambang event tonight at the Danao City Civic Center just when it recently held one last December 23, 2007.
Three fast rising simonpures will see action in the event. Undefeated Cagayan de Oro stallion Marjohn Yap leads the young guns as he makes his 10 round debut against the veteran Aljune Salogaol of Borbon, Cebu. The ?PROBINSYANONG INTSIK? Yap has remained undefeated in 7 fights with two upset wins over former Amateur National Champion Marjo Borres.
Backing up the main event is the newly-signed up ALA boy, Roli Gasca of Barili who will be making his debut as an ALA fighter. The 18 year old Gasca who parades an unblemished record of 5 wins is one of the four winners of the popular ABS-CBN boxing series, ?IDOL?. He will be tested by another promising pugilist from Candijay, Bohol, Arnold Montojo who was formerly a stablemate of Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista.
What may steal the limelight however is the duel between two of Cebu?s most popular and entertaining fighters, Flash ?Mongo? Intor and Edmund ?El Martillo? Velayo. Their fights have never failed to bring laughters and thrills to the amusement of the paying public.
Two preliminary bouts will usher in the professional fights but not after eight amateur bouts will be contested by boxers from Danao City and a selection from Cebu.
The Danao Amateur boxing is a pet project of Mix Durano who is ably supported by Boying Rodriguez and Danao City Mayor Nito Durano.
Tickets will be sold at the gate at reasonable price of P200-Ringside, P100-Lowerseat and P50 for General Admission.
