NBA --- A few minutes with Brook Lopez

PhilBoxing.com

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks are not only the best team in the NBA with a stunning 52-9 record, they are also the fastest team in 15 years to clinch a playoffs berth which kicks off this coming April 18.

After crushing the OKC Thunder, 133-86, this past weekend at the Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee, starting center Brook Lopez stopped by to talk to PhilBoxing.com.

PhilBoxing.com: Can you talk about tonight's 47-point win over the OKC Thunder?

Brook Lopez: We're just trying to come, get out, get better and improve each and every night. Obviously, we came out with great focus. Everybody contributed and we played a strong 48 minutes.

PhilBoxing.com: Can you talk about how you got hooked on Star Wars?

Brooke Lopez: It was something I kind of got born into. My older brothers watched it a lot and had a love for it. I wanted to be like them and I watched it as well.

PhilBoxing.com: You’re closing in on 800 career games averaging 18 points and 6.5 boards. Can you talk about your longevity and how you’ve been able to stick through it in the league?

Brook Lopez: You know its about having the right mindset and coming out trying to get better everyday. Obviously, taking care of your body, always being prepared, and always being ready for the opportunity.

PhilBoxing.com: You played with your twin Robin in college, what's that like? And how does that differ now that you play together in the same team in the pros?

Brook Lopez: It's fun. It's great having him out there. He's a character and obviously goes out there and does his job. Obviously, Giannis Antetokounmpo) has his brother out there, too, and it's really a family thing.

You know the whole team, we're really close so we're having a great time together.

PhilBoxing.com: You guys are on pace for a 70-win season. You spent nine years in New Jersey and Brooklyn, obviously, different types of basketball. You weren't playing for a championship every year. You're contending now, what's it like, what's the difference?

Brook Lopez: We're out just trying to improve each and every day.

PhilBoxing.com: Do you have any message to your fans in the Philippines?

Brook Lopez: I want to thank all my fans in the Philippines, all the Bucks fans in the Philippines for their continued support. It means the world to us. We appreciate it and we hope to see you soon.

Lopez entered the NBA as the 10th pick in the 2008 Draft out of Stanford University. He played nine seasons with the Brooklyn Nets and one season with the Lakers before landing with the Milwaukee Bucks beginning in the 2018-19 campaign.

Lopez has appeared in 58 games this season and is averaging 11 points and 4.5 rebounds an outing.
