DONAIRE SAYS VILORIA HAS LONG WAY TO GO
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Feb 2008

Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, the reigning IBO/IBF flyweight champion says former WBC light flyweight champion Brian Viloria has ?a long way to go? before he can possibly get a shot at his title.
Hopes for a Donaire-Viloria title fight emerged after Viloria scored a lopsided eighth round unanimous decision over Cesar ?Gallito? Lopez at the MGM Grand on Sunday, Manila Time, on the undercard of the Kelly Pavlik-Jermain Taylor rematch. Viloria dropped Lopez in the fifth round with a solid right but couldn't put him away.
Donaire lost what he claimed was a controversial decision to Viloria in the US Olympic trials for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and has always wanted to avenge that loss. But chances are that may never happen because Donaire defends his title against Australian Hussein Hussein in Dubai on April 18 and then, if he can't get a shot at the WBC or WBA titles held by Japanese fighters, he is likely to move up to the super flyweight division leaving Viloria behind. However, Donaire conceded ?there might be a possibility? of a fight with Viloria.
Donaire who was in the beautiful resort of Boracay when we spoke to him yesterday said he was leaving for the US today to begin serious training for the Hussein Hussein title defense in Haywood and after that said ?I am going to Las Vegas because I need some good sparring.? Donaire said his manager Cameron Dunkin ?has all the guys for me lined up .?
Donaire refused to concede that he was a little bloated and said he was around 130 pounds and would have no problem making the 112 pound limit, admitting ?when I do start to workout I know I can go down, although I am eating everything right now.?
