Johann Chua wins Pacquiao Valentines 10-ball Open tilt

The Philippines' Johann "Bad Koi" Chua outclassed Roland Garcia, 10-7, to claim the title in the money-rich Manny Pacquiao Valentines 10-ball Open Championship (Individual event) held at SM City in Bacolod City over the weekend.
Chua started hot, taking a 3-0 lead. Garcia rebounded winning 2 straight racks to trim down at 3-2 count. However, Chua, a two-time Japan Champion, won 3 straight racks to get the upperhand again at 6-2 before Garcia rallied and closed the match at 6 all count in the 12th frame. The Bacolod City native Chua won another 3 racks to reach the hill at 9-6 count. Garcia the pride of Magalang, Pampanga won the 16th frame for a 9-7 count before Chua won the last rack.
On the road to the race-to-10 finals, Chua edged Patrick Gonzales, 9-8, in the semis while Garcia beat Jhek Alonsagay, 9-4, in another final four marquee matchups.
Chua earns P150,000 for his week's efforts while Garcia takes home half that in the event organized by Mary Grace Tambasen and Michael Feliciano and supported by World Boxing champion Sen. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao. Gonzales and Alonsagay takes home P40,000 each.-Marlon Bernardino-
